Where should I use caulk instead of grout?
At every change of plane or material: wall corners, tub-to-tile and counter-to-backsplash joints, and where tile meets wood or metal. These joints move, and grout would crack — caulk flexes.
What's the difference between sanded and unsanded caulk?
Texture. Sanded caulk matches the look of sanded grout joints; unsanded caulk matches unsanded grout and smooth surfaces. Both come color-matched to the TEC grout palette.
Should I use silicone or acrylic caulk in a shower?
For constantly wet joints, 100% silicone (like TEC 155) is the most waterproof and mold-resistant. Color-matched siliconized caulks work well for corners and transitions that see less standing water.
How do I match caulk to my grout color?
TEC 820 and 850 caulks use the same color names and numbers as TEC grout — pick the same color name and the joint will blend.
