Wondering how to apply Starlike® Crystal Glass Grout® to glass tile? You're in luck! Jean Snell of The Tile Doctor® regularly conducts demonstration sessions on that very topic at Tile Outlets of America.
In this article, we'll share highlights from one of her demonstrations.

Why We Like Crystal Glass Grout
We like Crystal Glass Grout a lot and sell it at all Tile Outlets of America locations. The reason is that it is ideal for glass mosaic tile. Regardless of the color of the glass, this grout works beautifully.
What this means is that you no longer have to change grout colors when you create designs with multiple colors of glass mosaic tile. With Starlike Crystal Glass Grout you can use as many tile colors as your design calls for, but only one grout.
The chameleon effect of Crystal Glass Grout always maintains a neutral tone which never competes with the glass tiles it is designed to complement as you can see in the image below.

We've summarized the demonstration in a question and answer format. We were able to videotape part of the presentation, and it is included at the bottom of the article.
Demonstrating How to Apply Crystal Glass Grout: What's Important?
What is the advantage of using Crystal Glass Grout?
Answer: Crystal Glass Grout is a two-part epoxy which is stain resistant, UV resistant, does not fade and can stand up to harsh chemicals which makes this a nice choice for wall and floor tile.
It is also ideal for hot tubs, swimming pools, and outdoor applications because it is “non-shrink” due to its high compression strength. In addition to its versatility, it is also easier to use than a typical epoxy grout.
Crystal Glass Grout looks like wet sand. It's made of glass which is why it has reflective properties.

Is the product hard to mix and apply?
Answer: No, Crystal Glass Grout comes pre-measured and already prepared in the bucket. Simply mix the catalyst with the base to a “peanut butter” consistency.
When it comes to applying Crystal Glass Grout, we recommend using a green epoxy grout float (see image below). That's in contrast to standard cement based grout(s).
This color grout float has a heavier handle and a harder rubber bottom so it makes the application of the epoxy grout easier and more thorough.

**Make sure the surface area is clean prior to grout installation.
Once the grout is applied, the use of a white nylon scrub pad, grout sponge, and clean water will allow you to easily remove the excess grout on the surface.
If the surface is still “streaky” after rinsing, simply moisten a microfiber cloth, place it in the “flat part of your hand” and wipe over the surface. Then, wipe the surface again with a dry microfiber cloth.
Why would Crystal Glass Grout be a good choice for glass?
Answer: Crystal Glass Grout is a translucent grout comprised of tiny hollow glass beads, which allow it to reflect and refract light.
The blending of the light creates a “chameleon effect” because the grout assumes the hues of the tile when it is colored all the way through. This eliminates the need for colored grout and is much easier to maintain.

How long does the Crystal Glass Grout last once it is mixed?
Answer: Working time is approximately one hour regardless of the size bucket. After an hour the Crystal Glass Grout becomes very sticky and stiff.
For that reason, we recommend using the smaller 5.5 lbs bucket of Crystal Glass Grout rather than the 11 lbs bucket, especially if you don't have much experience.
That way, you'll have two hours of working time for the same quantity of grout, rather than only one hour with the 11 lbs bucket.
How many square feet can you get out of a container of Crystal Grout?
Answer: The coverage you'll get with this product depends on the size of the material being grouted and the size of the grout joint.
Here is the 7-minute video of Jean Snell demonstrating Crystal Glass Grout. Note that there's background noise, so you may need to increase the volume on your viewing device, too.
