Meet Brooks Loy, Employee-Owner of Tile Outlets of America

Have you met employee-owner Brooks Loy? He is based out of Tile Outlets in Tampa, Florida.

Brooks joined Tile Outlets of America in 2003 and is next in the Tile Outlets of America Employee-Owner series.

We caught up with Brooks to ask him a few questions.

Introducing Brooks Loy, Employee-Owner of Tile Outlets of America

TOA: Brooks, tell us about yourself and your background. Are you from Tampa?

BL: I was born here in Tampa. I started working at McDonald's when I was 16 years old. I became a manager at 18.

Later, I worked at Kash-N-Karry and Albertson Warehouses.

TOA: How did you get started at Tile Outlets of America?

BL: I was hired as maintenance/puller in 2003 and helped get the Tampa store ready for the grand opening.

TOA: What is your role at Tile Outlets?

BL: I work in the Receiving Department where I ensure that product coming into the store is accurately counted.

I also place product out on the showroom floor.

TOA: What do you love most about being an employee-owner of Tile Outlets?

BL: The feeling of pride that what the customer sees and experiences reflects back on what I do for Tile Outlets of America.

TOA: Which are your favorite products and why?

BL: I like the wood plank tiles.

TOA: What new trends are customers asking about?

BL: Wood planks are popular, but I also see customers asking for larger tiles.

TOA: What are your top tips for people shopping for tile?

BL: Do your homework. Shopping for tile may be a little scary.

Take samples home to ensure that they work in your home.

TOA: What do you like to do outside of tile?

BL: I'm a home body. But, when I travel I like to take cruises. It's an easy way to see other countries.
